! Jami Jones has embraced a passion for dance all of her life. She began her training with Belly Dance and Eastern Folk Dance. Initially she pursued Belly Dance for the beauty of the art, however, she quickly began performing professionally notably in the award winning, Silk Road Dance Company. Jami began teaching Ballroom and Latin dance in 1997 opening her eyes to the magic of partner dancing and sending her on a journey through the world of competitive dance. As a continuation of her ballroom experience she also had the honor of performing in Frank Reganʼs American Dance Montage Company where vintage American Smooth and Rhythm dances were featured. ! As her talents became more in demand, Jami relocated to Las Vegas to dance in the acrobatic water show, Le Reve. While dancing with Le Reve, Jami had the opportunity to perform as a guest artist on the hit TV show, Dancing With The Stars. While in Las Vegas Jami performed with a variety of shows including the classic Crazy Horse Paris at the MGM Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
Jami embraces a strong appreciation for Salsa Dance and has performed with well travelled Salsa dance companies. She has performed on stage for acclaimed Salsa singers such as Victor Manuelle, Gilberto Santa Rosa, and Oscar DʼLeon. She is the 2005 Washington D.C. Salsa Champion and was a ﬁnalist in the World Salsa Competition in Puerto Rico. In the United States Jami has won several American Rhythm Rising Star Championships as well as Open Championships.
As a natural extension of Jamiʼs exploration of movement, she has become a certiﬁed teacher in the Gyrotonic Expansion Systems including Gyrokinesis. She also received her teaching certiﬁcation in both mat and equipment Pilates through a teaching program at UNLV.
Additional styles of movement ﬂuency that Jami has trained over the years include: Jazz; Butoh; Japanese Dance Theater; Burlesque; Yoga and Romany Dance. While Jami enjoys the crafts of varied cultural and competitive dances, she remains a strong believer in the health and well being that social dancing and conscious movement can provide.
